The people of this world speak one language as they wandered; they came to a plain called Babylonia and settled there.
They said to themselves, let’s make some bricks, hold them together with tar, and build a city with a tower that will reach the sky and make a name for ourselves.
The Lord came down and saw what these people have done and said; these people speak the same language, and this is just the beginning of what they are going to do, and so will be able to do anything.
So, he mixes up their language so they will not understand each other. The Lord scattered them all over the world.
The city was called Babylon because the Lord mixed up the language of all the people.
